Insurance And Financing

At Harbor Hearing we work with most major insurance companies. If you don’t see your insurance listed, give us a call. We’re happy to discuss your options.

Hearing Aid Insurance Information

Most plans do not automatically cover hearing healthcare or hearing aids. Even if you have it, insurance coverage for hearing aids varies in the way it is administered. If you want to ask specific questions about the type of coverage you have, simply look at your insurance card to find a toll-free number for member services. Calling your insurance company is the best way to get the most accurate information about your coverage.

Certain insurance companies have a benefit toward the purchase of your hearing aid. Harbor Hearing will assist you in determining your insurance coverage and in many cases directly bill your insurance for payment. We accept Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Medicare, and other major providers.

There is a wide variety of healthcare insurances and coverage options. Some are listed below with more information and helpful links.

AARP is a United States-based interest group whose stated mission is “to empower people to choose how they live as they age”. If you have AARP or are thinking about joining AARP, you may be able to take advantage of their hearing healthcare benefits.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield offers supplemental plans for hearing aid service benefits. These benefits are determined by state. They also have an additional plan called “Blue 365”, which offers additional benefits outside of regular plans. Learn more about Blue 365 hearing healthcare here.

Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not cover hearing aids.

However, Medicare-eligible beneficiaries may still have options for hearing coverage—either through a state Medicaid program (for those who receive Medicaid) or through a Medicare Advantage plan.

Medicare Advantage plan

Medicare Advantage (also called Part C or MA) could cover hearing aids because plans vary by location, and benefits included also vary from plan to plan. To learn more about coverage in your area, you can search using the  Medicare Plan Finder or call your local Medicare office.

The TriWest Healthcare Alliance is contracted with the VA (the Department of Veteran Affairs) to offer their members hearing healthcare and hearing aids. All hearing aid devices will be ordered and procured through the VA, using devices that are currently on the VA Hearing Aid contract.
